Answered Prayer (March 2011)

Exhort, Encourage, Edify March, 2011                                                                   Answered Prayer Psalm 37: 3-9     “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.” Have you ever asked God for something and wondered if He would give it to you? What about asking for something and then having to wait to see God provide? God works in ways tha…

The striving Potsherd

Isaiah 45:9
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
Job 4:17 Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
Psalms 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
Isaiah 2916 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Jeremiah 18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. 4 And the ves…

PSALM 103:
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

As a parent, I s…

My Loving God

Romans 5 King James Version (KJV)5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
The love that God has for us is so complete and satisfying! We as humans, prone to sin, hurt God over and over ye…

The Heart

The Bible has a lot to say about the heart. Many years ago the Sunday School girls and I did a study on the heart. What kind of a heart does God desire us to have? What are the warning signs of a heart that is straying from God? What kind of heart does the Bible talk about? I have listed a few here. SOUND HEART GROUNDED HEART TRUSTING HEART OBEDIENT HEART SEARCHING HEART PURE HEART WILLING HEART PREPARED HEART CHRIST LIKE HEART HONEST HEART WHOLE HEART BELIEVING HEART MELODIOUS OR PRAISING HEART WILLING HEART YIELDED HEART SANCTIFIED AND READY HEART DECEITFUL HEART There are many more I am sure. But this is a good place to start. I have listed some pertaining verses below. It would take hours to expound on each one, so I will leave that to you. A world of truth can be uncovered with the study of simply one word!Proverbs 14:30 (KJV)  A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

I am in the process of switching over from my old desk to a new one (one of those things I've been needing to do for a long time). As I was going through drawers and drawers of paper work, I noticed something that spoke to my heart and wanted to share it with you'll. Our lives are very busy and hectic: job responsibilities, family responsibilities, church responsibilities, etc.  Even taking care of ourselves physically can add to our daily overload of activity. As we rush about almost blindly, we tend to do halfhearted jobs. Of course, this usually adds emotional baggage (guilt, fear, anxiety, the feeling of being rushed). When adding all this up, you get a nice mixed up mess of confusion and frustration. It becomes very hard to do what the psalmist said, "be still and know that I am God." Yet you know that is exactly what your bewildered mind needs. How can you deal with all this pressure and stay close to God, trusting in Him and resting peacefully on His promises?…
