My Testimony

All of my books were written for one purpose only, and that was to bring honor and glory to the One Who has given my life meaning--Jesus Christ. Hi, my name is Em Kennedy, and I want to tell you a little bit about how I came to know Christ.

I grew up in a big family in the state of Virginia, went to church regularly, and heard the gospel preached. All my life I heard how Jesus, God's perfect Son, died on the cross for the sins of the world. But for some reason I had trouble realizing that I too was a sinner. Oh, I tried to do right, and in my own eyes had succeeded. I thought that the preacher was talking to someone else. One night as I lay in bed trying to sleep, the words that the preacher had preached going over and over in my mind, I realized that no matter how good I was, Jesus was not pleased with me. I had rejected His offer for salvation as if to say, I did not believe He died on the cross for me! All I could think about was if I died that night, I would go to Hell! In tears of fear and regret, I begged Jesus to forgive me, save me from my sins and keep me from going to Hell. He answered my prayer that night as an eight-year-old girl as I accepted Christ as my Savior, and now I need not fear death for He will be the One to take me to be with Him in Heaven when I die.

There was nothing that I could have done that would cause me to merit Heaven, I thought I was perfect, and as a child who had not done anything really bad, the one sin that would have sent me to Hell was the sin of rejecting Jesus Christ as my Savior. That is all it takes because we are all born sinners. Sin can't go to Heaven! So no matter what we do on our own we are unable to merit Heaven. God says in Romans 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" And again in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Then we see the solution to the problem, Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Jesus solved the problem when He came down to earth, born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, and died a perfect sacrifice to cleanse us from sin. John 3:16-17, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

So what do we do about it? Well it is simple enough that a young  child can understand it. First you admit that you are a sinner, then you ask Jesus to come into your heart and save you from your sins. Just as it says in Romans 10:9-10, and 13, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Is this the only way to find forgiveness? Yes! Titus 3:5-7, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."Nothing that we do can free us from our sins! There is no side doors into Heaven and only one escape door out of Hell--Jesus Christ!

So what are you going to do about it? The choice is yours. You can either find forgiveness in Jesus or live life meaningless and die and go to Hell. Try Jesus, I promise you that you will find the answer to all life's problems no matter how big or small. Not only does He save us from our sin, but He comes to live in our hearts and is that friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24, "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." He leads guides and takes care of us as a father does his child. Oh, how I could go on and on boasting of my Lord, but words can't describe Him entirely, He is too wonderful! That is why I want to praise His name for all He has done for me. This is the reason I write...to tell others about my wonderful Savior. I hope that you will come to know Him as I have, and that the difference He makes in your life is one that will change you eternally!
